Why settle? Why not upgrade your life? What do you need to do? The first step is perceived as the hardest to do. Decide. You have to take a good long hard look at your life and make the decision to change. Acknowledge the life you’re leading may not be the one you want. Decide where you need to make changes. Define your goals and write them out. Research if you need to. Decide what steps you need to take to live the life you want.
Change can be so difficult, but it’s worth it. Change your mind. Change your perspective. Start by thinking positive. Yeah, I know crap happens. It’s life. Get over it. Don’t wallow in the negative. Don’t expect bad situations. Accept and move on. If necessary, change jobs. Change friends. Change your habits. One step at a time. You don’t have to do things cold turkey. Ease into a new life. Instead of grabbing a fast food lunch, bring food from home. Instead of watching television and drinking beer all day long, start your change by drinking water. Later add in Exercise.
You don’t have to sprint to the finish line, because there isn’t one. You do the better you in your time. Take baby steps. The goal is to move, to change, to want it. Physical movement will make you feel better and better. Now let’s talk about mental changes.
Like I mentioned, think positive. Don’t gossip. What someone else did or said, is none of your business. Yes, even if it has to do with you. Don’t talk down about yourself or to yourself. I have a friend who always says, “Man, I’m stupid.” I constantly tell this person to stop saying that. No, you’re not stupid. Perhaps you weren’t aware of all the choices available to you? Maybe the answer wasn’t so easy to see, as hindsight always is. Be aware of negative self talk and control it the second it starts.
Be open. Keep your mind open to all the possibilities out there. Don’t close your mind to other’s beliefs. Be open to different cultures. Be open to different foods. Be open to new experiences. Try it. If you don’t like it, then okay. No harm done. Open your heart. Eliminate the word, hate. Don’t hate people because of who they love, because of the color of their skin, because of their age, because of the gender, or because they believe differently than you.
Realize your goals. Reach for the stars.
Be true to yourself.
