Your Senses

To live fully in the moment, you need to get in touch with all of your senses. Experience the world the way it was meant to be. First sense is sight. Go to places you’ve never been before, be it a different grocery store than the same one you visit so often, even the stock boys in the back know your name. Go to different cities to towns within driving distance. Heck, spend the night if ya wanna. See what the world has to offer. See different people.

Next is hearing. Listen to different music. Listen to people speak. Hear their laughter. Add your laughter to the mix. Make friends. Enjoy yourself. You can hear joy in other’s voices and they can hear it in yours too.

Taste and smell. These two kinda go hand in hand. Take the time to smell the roses as you travel about. Or heck, even go to the normal grocery store and stop in the floral department and smell the flowers. You know they have a floral department, you pass it three times a week. Try foods you never would try before. You might be surprised. If you don’t like it, just say so. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.

Feel. Touch things. Please note, strangers don’t like to be touched by other strangers. Ask first. Feel the power as you stand on top of a mountain, don’t just look at the views. (I’m saying do both.) Feel nature. Feel the air. Feel the freedom. Just because you can’t see things, doesn’t mean they’re not there.

Extra senses. Yep, I’m going there. As a horror writer I have researched psychic phenomenon. Even written books with a main character who is a medium. (that’s right, buy my books) According to my research, every single person has some kind of extra sense. Most people don’t pay any attention to this sense. Some do. Listen to your intuition. Meditate. Be all you can be.
